Our Ballots Our Bullets

Two years ago, my friend Joyce Kaufman of WFTL 850 AM radio of South Florida stood up and spoke like very few patriots can or will. In front of July 4th activist patriots, gathered at a strip mall, she reminded them of what our liberty and that of our children might require. She spoke about the sacrifices that the fight for freedom might charge us. It was a speech that would change the trajectory of her life, and possibly the nation’s.

Much like the Founders risked it all to create this blessed nation, my friend Joyce risked it all that day in a fearless and conspicuous way. She told the unvarnished truth. She told it loud and she told it proud. She painted the picture the way it was, and the way it will always be.

Watch the speech here. Joyce Kaufman: The Ballot Box or The Cartridge Box.

Her mighty words are still applicable to our nation today, two years later. Joyce Kaufman quoted Thomas Jefferson’s words, “ If ballots don’t do it bullets will”. Leftist elites didn’t like those words much like they don’t like the inspired constitution that Mr. Jefferson co-authored. Gosh how they hate our own history.

True Leaders see it differently. Malcolm X was of course not a founder, but he too knew that truth, as stated at What So Proudly We Hail by editor Diana Shaub. Schaub turns to Malcolm’s famous speech in which he declares that “If we don’t do something real soon, I think you’ll have to agree that we’re going to be forced either to use the ballot or the bullet. It’s one or the other in 1964.”

Schaub writes,

“[In this speech,] Malcolm X began to reflect on the deepest questions of law and citizenship. Discussion of the relationship between ballots and bullets has a distinguished history in American political thought. Lincoln, for instance, when he argued against the constitutionality of secession, urged us to remember “that ballots are the rightful and peaceful successors of bullets; and that when ballots have fairly and constitutionally decided, there can be no successful appeal back to bullets; that there can be no successful appeal except to ballots themselves, at succeeding elections.” Of course, in denouncing secession, Lincoln was not denying the existence of a right of revolution—there could be situations in which ballots have not fairly and constitutionally decided. Lincoln agreed with Jefferson that where “peaceable remedies are unprovided,” the “sword of revolution” is always the ultimate resort.”

Joyce Kaufman is an original piece of God’s work. There is no doubt that the speech she gave on that day July 4, 2010 could be given again and again. There is no doubt that if the speech were given today, the left would attack it like they did in 2010. They would fallaciously using the raw emotions after the recent Colorado theater massacre in the same way that they shamelessly used the near murder of Representative Gabby Gifford.

We might ask ourselves if we are as ready and willing as Joyce to give that revolutionary speech, at risk to our lives and treasure. Would we rather just submit to slavery; It would be so much easier.

OR simply give up those “Breaking Bad” reruns, learn about the issues and then get out and vote in November and take a couple smart neighbors with you.

Fast and Furious One Year Later

The truth about Fast and Furious as reported by Freedom Radio still stands one year ago to the day that AG Eric Holder was held in contempt by the House (yet to be upheld by vote of the entire House). Yet Big Media still refuses to report it accurately.

Both Bill O’Reilly and Shepard Smith continue to report that guns were permitted to get into the hands of Mexican professional murderous criminals quite by accident. As of one year later, they still do not report even the possibility that putting automatic weapons in the hands of terrorists to use against law abiding citizens WAS THE PLAN.

Listen here as Pat Carfagno and Tim Sumner present the Freedom Radio Report on Fast and Furious, evidence and all.

I Can See Liberty From My Front Porch

Having been privileged to have found a home in Valley Forge, being gifted with a love of American history that I enjoyed even as a little tiny girl, I remember dragging my parents here on multiple occasions. However now, as a grown woman my appreciation for this holy ground has only deepened. It has deepened exponentially since September 11.

The American home of the Marquis de Lafayette is within an easy eyeshot of my front yard. I am led to remember how he once wrote that the fate of all mankind would be forever tied to America.

Upon the success of the Revolution he said, “Humanity has won its battle, Liberty now has a country”. Lafayette loved his adopted nation and yearned for the same revolution to reform France, the nation of his birth. The French revolution did not come close.

Well over 200 years ago, the young Lafayette saw the place of America in the world and the history of humanity in a way that no one else did, or at least that no one else said. Perhaps it was youthful exuberance yet undeterred. This exuberance was not to be an obstacle to his victories against the British. Without his contribution to the American revolution, there may not have ever been an America.

Let us mark well how right he was. Over the centuries the enemies of freedom have taken note of the thorn that American Liberty has become in the side of tyrannical governments. If not for America, their people would have no example with which to compare the lot to which they are tied. America works. Liberty works. They wish to deprive Liberty of its country. Those that would have the peoples of the earth enslaved despise it, and are dedicated to its demise.

George W. Bush vaguely said, “The terrorists hate us because of our way of life”. No, Sir. They hate liberty. He is no Marquis de Lafayette, but he is a patriot.

Understanding history, is key to understanding the fragile nature of liberty. This is why of course the left would prefer not to teach American history as I know it. Liberty is a fearless raging lion, but it can be taken down with one bullet, one sword or one man. Look back to the lives of our nations heroes, our founders to see what each man can do to preserve freedom.

And then do it.

True Justice and Real Peace

Osama Bin Ladin’s death brought me no joy. It was bittersweet but for me, not a moment for celebration. Yes, I am uber- glad he’s dead. Its called justice. But his death follows the unnecessary misery of thousands. To my perhaps flawed thinking, I cannot separate the two.

In his last moments on this earth, Osama Bin Laden did what Americans knew he would do given the opportunity and given his track record of murdering the innocent; He grabbed his wife and stuck her in the line of fire to save his own skin. Like other brands of socialism and fascism, the so called sacrifices of socialism and fascism are for thee and not for me.

Bin Laden’s brand of Islamofascism, not unlike HItlers brand of socialism, encouraged malleable minds to die for the “faith”, while the head of the snake would do whatever it took to save his sorry existence.

Like pseudo-generals throughout history, he bravely led from behind. He spoke about the joy of willingly dying for ones beliefs and the desirability of martyrdom. He spoke of the rewards in heaven for such willingness. He spoke of heroics with which the killing of innocents should be performed without question.

He was no general, no leader, no hero, no martyr.

It is fitting that Osama should die as he lived, a coward, a hypocrite and a liar. He set an example with the manner with which we should NOT want to die. He also set a perfect example of how not to live. The cowardice and evil manner of his reluctant death demonstrates the falsehood and duplicity of his Islamofascism.

Reflection on the inability of some of us to feel celebratory concerning Bin Laden’s death, takes me to a life that was gratefully the antithesis of his.

The faith brought to us by Jesus Christ lives on and thrives because He spoke of the difficulties of living with the parameters of His faith; “Love God and love your neighbor as yourself for the love of God.” He indeed ordered Peter to put down his sword and allow an angry crowd to take Him away to His death. He walked himself to His cross and His own painful and slow death, knowing that at any moment He could have saved himself. He forgave sins for the simple act of regret and sorrow for their commitment.

He did all this for the example He would set, about how to live ones life, how to forgive each others’ many weaknesses and to do all these things as he in his humanity did them. He forgave prostitutes. He forgave thieves. He forgave his betraying weak friends and He forgave his killers.

He did all these things so that we could see a glimpse of the glory of God; His faithfulness and God’s love of his creation, mankind. We are flawed, we are weak, we are imperfect, just the way God made us. We follow Christ, not simply because of the rewards in heaven, but for the joy of the love of God.

You don’t have to be a Christian to appreciate the difference.
