I’ve known this man personallybc we were in the same company for oif 3. He is all about doing the right thing for him and his soldiers. A man his troops could come to with anything. He would go out of his way to take care of his soldiers.. I’m completely shocked by this madness. Plz help him continue to help others in combat!!

Pat, you brought tears to my eyes. The real upstate New York (north of Albany) has always been Heaven in my imagination. And it is from this foundational belief that I have drawn the strength to resist the worldly temptations cast before us as distractions. God can be found in the quiet moments, especially when you experience the vast natural beauty of northern New York. Perhaps that is why Democrats fight so hard to chase people and business out of the state…for once a good person witnesses it for themselves, they are changed for the better. I can only imagine how such beauty would eat at a person who does not acknowledge the Creator.

Excellent piece and a reminder of God’s palm print on our earth.

I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. SFC Taylor should sit with his head held high and have a clear conscience. As awful as it is that this Doctor died, it is a fact of modern warfare. If you go to a combat zone as a civilian there is a good chance you will be shot at if not killed. If you wound an animal and back it into a corner or threaten its “young” it will attack ANYTHING that comes close…..it saddens me that this is even an issue.

My question for the “good DOctor” would be….why the HELL did you drive up in the middle of this event…WITH ALL YOUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR!?!?!?! The prosecutors are so concerned about his state of mind why doesnt anyone think to ask what the hell she was doing there in the first place?!

That a doctor was killed is really unfortunate. That she was a mother and her children were killed is equally tragic. But she was in a combat zone. In a combat zone, innocent people get hurt if they do things that are ambiguous and are not clearly understood. U.S. Troops are not clairvoyant. And in their business, to hesitate means to put themselves in mortal danger. It is very sad that the doctor was killed. It would have been an outrageous dereliction of duty if SFC Walter Taylor had NOT shot the rumpled figure and allowed the figure to open the trunk and detonate another IED, thereby killing his entire squad. Fortunately, SFC Taylor made the right decision and his squad survived. That he inadvertently killed a doctor and a mother is regrettable and unfortunate, but because it was an act of self-defense, it was not a crime.

You can say all you want but have you ever been in a war time situation? The insurgents over there use women and children to do their dirty work. And when you under fire from insurgents you do not know if someone that just stops their car and gets out when there is gun shots going off what their motivation is. How do you know she was there to help? She stopped behind 2 white cars where small arms fire was being shot from. And when you have wounded troops and you are trying to bring them home alive. Split decisions must be made. Unfortunately this doctor did not make the smart decision and stopped then got out and went to her trunk which is suspicious when troops are under fire. So don’t talk crap unless you have been in their shoes and understand the situation.

Unfortunately, none of our troops are equipped with your ability to see the future. You will never understand; you have never “been there” with seconds or a split-second to decide to shoot or not to shoot. (And what does “the vast majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi” have to do with this?)
