John Rosenthal joined me on Freedom Radio to discuss his book, The Jihadist Plot; The Untold Story of Al-Qaeda and the Libyan Rebellion. In it, he describes how the Obama administration and NATO “changed sides in the War on Terror” in Libya.
Mr. Rosenthal documents the clear evidence of top rebel leaders who trained with and fought alongside al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Iraq, had ties to the Madrid train bombings and both the fertilizer plot and London subway bombings, and had been detained by the U.S. “Indeed, there is strong reason to believe that Ansar al-Sharia is not so much a distinct militia as a movement cutting across virtually all the Eastern Libya militias, including Libya Shield.” Not only did the head of Libya Shield in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 previously fight against U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, the forces he led at the decisive battle for Sirte fought under the flag of al Qaeda.
